The wait is over.
After 13 days of uncertainty, protests at Jantar Mantar, CBI arrests, and 22.79 lakh students refreshing their screens every few hours, NTA finally posted it on May 15, 2026.
The NEET 2026 re-exam date is Sunday, June 21, 2026.
That’s roughly 37 days from now. No re-registration. No extra fee. Your exam centre, candidature, and registration details from the May 2026 cycle carry forward automatically.
What NTA officially said
The announcement came via NTA’s official X account on May 15. The post confirmed:
- Re-exam on Sunday, June 21, 2026
- Approved by the Government of India
- No fresh registration needed
- Registration fees already paid will be refunded
- New admit cards will be issued before the exam
- Syllabus, pattern, and difficulty level remain unchanged
All official updates will appear on neet.nta.nic.in — that’s the only source worth trusting. Don’t rely on anything circulating on Telegram or WhatsApp. That’s exactly how this mess started.
Why June 21 specifically
NTA didn’t explain the reasoning publicly. Working backwards: May 12 cancellation, 7-10 days for logistics, admit card issuance window, student prep time — mid-to-late June was always the most realistic slot. June 21 is a Sunday, which is standard for NEET.
Whether 37 days is enough is a separate debate. Students who sat for the May 3 paper have already covered the full syllabus. This is revision territory now, not fresh learning.
Where the investigation stands
CBI is running the probe. As of May 14, they’ve taken custody of 5 arrested individuals and apprehended 2 more suspects. The court granted CBI a 7-day custody period, describing the operation as an “organised gang” that leaked and circulated confidential papers for money.
Investigators are going through Telegram groups, coaching centre links, digital records, and financial transactions tied to the leak network. Shubham Khairnar, a 30-year-old detained by Nashik Police, is among those now in CBI custody.
FAIMA has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court over the cancellation. That case is still pending.

What to do before the NEET 2026 re-exam date
Stop doom-scrolling first. The date is confirmed. What happens between now and June 21 is what matters.
Verify your exam centre. NTA said existing centres carry forward, but keep checking the official site. Some candidates may see a change.
Wait for the new admit card. Don’t use the old one. NTA will re-issue before the exam. Exact date for that isn’t out yet.
Don’t overhaul your study plan. You’ve been through the full syllabus. Focus on mock tests, error analysis, and weak areas. Experts are already flagging that 650+ marks may be the new safe score given expectations of a tougher paper.
