Sony has introduced a new live TV service on PS5, which allows users of PlayStation to access over 100 channels and other entertainment content on-demand from the PS5 console itself. This service will be available on PS5 under the Media tab and includes entertainment services like movies, TV shows, anime, sports, news, and much more.

This live TV on PS5 service became available to US customers on August 31. According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony has plans to introduce this service to Canada and even investigate its availability in other regions. However, this service is currently unavailable in India.

This new service from Sony allows users to watch free, ad-supported TV content from Sony Pictures Television on PS5 and doesn’t require any additional hardware.

Live TV on PS5 Offers Movies, Sports, Anime, and More 

Upon its debut, Sony’s Live TV service boasts of having content from different leading entertainment companies, among which are Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, Fox, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel, UFC, and many others.

Some of the content categories include:

  • Anime
  • Sports
  • News
  • Esports content
  • Documentaries
  • Podcasts
  • Comedy television shows

This streaming service also contains creator-generated programming, which comes from YouTube and Spotify channels, and some examples of these include Hot Ones and The Ringer.

How to Access Live TV on PS5

PS5 users in eligible areas can use the service by following the following process:

  • Go to the Media tab on the PS5 console.
  • Click on the Live TV on PS5 logo.
  • Click on “Sign In With My PlayStation Account”.
  • Watch available live TV channels and on-demand programs.
  • Movies and TV Shows Available on Live TV on PS5

The new PS5 TV from Sony has the following free movies via the following channels:

  • Lionsgate’s MovieSphere
  • 50 Cent Action
  • FilmRise Free Movies
  • Sony One Horror Hits
  • Cinevault

The service also offers popular TV shows, including:

  • The Shield

The PS5 Live TV service also features sporting events from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC.
