Dyson is now offering its CameraJet toothbrush, powered by electricity, globally from Tuesday. The toothbrush is designed with a smart AI camera inside that can find gaps between the teeth to make precise flossing possible during brushing.

The camera-based toothbrush makes use of imaging technology in detecting plaque and ensuring precise brushing. It comes with connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and is compatible with the MyDyson application for real-time camera access and other brushing benefits.

Dyson’s CameraJet toothbrush has been designed to be water-resistant and also offers a battery life of 10 days per charge.

The Dyson CameraJet costs $499 (approximately Rs. 47,000). The Dyson CameraJet is available in the US market in two colours – Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink.

Dyson CameraJet Specifications and Features 

The Dyson CameraJet has a Gap Optical Targeting algorithm from the company, whereby a macro-lens camera of 100,000 pixels, together with the AI machine learning system, can identify the gaps between the teeth in real-time.

According to Dyson, the technology is able to analyze 28 images every second and recognise the gap within 100 milliseconds.

The toothbrush has a target lens that widens the field of vision for the camera, as well as a stroboscopic light that helps in making the images captured in the mouth visible.

This toothbrush has a silicone-backed sonic dampener and employs variable sonic oscillation technology to keep the bristles moving uniformly. The brush has a sonic motor that operates at 245 oscillations per second.

CameraJet has the following cleaning modes:

  • Auto-brushing and flossing
  • Brush mode
  • Flossing mode

Additionally, it has three brush strength options:

  • Gentle
  • Variable
  • Deep clean

As far as the AI system of the CameraJet is concerned, Dyson claims that it has been programmed with 16 million lines of code and learned from 470,000 images.

Flossing is done by the toothbrush through the use of a conical jet with a spraying mechanism that helps in eliminating the plaque between teeth. This involves a 12.5 ml anti-gravity mouthrinse tank with a diaphragm pump and pressure chamber.

In addition, the toothbrush comes with a dual-bristle brush head that has inner bristles for eliminating surface stains, while the outer bristles are meant for the purpose of cleaning around the gumline. The toothbrush includes an RFID tag that helps monitor the use of brush heads. Dyson offers a sensitive brush head model too

Features of the Dyson CameraJet include 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and the device can be used in conjunction with the MyDyson app, where users can access live camera views, brushing and flossing insights, instructional videos, and personalized recommendations.

The toothbrush has a timer of 30 seconds and has an IPX7 water resistance rating. Dyson claims that CameraJet has up to 10 days of battery life on a single charge.
