The daguerreotype photographic process was created by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre. It was a big deal because it was one of the first ways to make photographs that would last forever.

Sharma thought it would be an idea to have a special day just for photography and he suggested this in 1988. The first time people celebrated World Photography Day was, in 1991.

What Is the History of Photography?

The story of photography started with people trying to use light and chemicals to make pictures that last. A man from France named Nicéphore Niépce made a picture that did not fade away around 1826-27 using a method called heliography. He worked with a man named Daguerre, who kept trying to make pictures after Nicéphore Niépce died.

What Was the First Photograph ?

The first known surviving photograph was View from the Window at Le Gras, created by French inventor Nicéphore Niépce around 1826 or 1827. It shows a dark, grainy view of buildings and the landscape outside his home in France.

Daguerre came up with a way to make pictures on special plates made of copper and silver. This was officially announced in Paris in 1839. It helped photography become popular very quickly.

Photography kept getting better with things, like paper negatives, film, colour photography and finally digital cameras. Each new thing that was invented made photography faster and easier for people to take pictures and share them with others.

Who Invented Photography?

Photography did not come from one person in one moment. Many inventors helped make it happen.

Nicéphore Niépce is mostly known for making one of the permanent photos while Louis Daguerre came up with the daguerreotype, one of the first ways to take pictures. British inventor William Henry Fox Talbot also helped a lot with his paper- method.

This means the history of photography is a story of discoveries instead of the work of just one person.

How Has Photography Changed Over Time?

Photography is really different now. It used to be a process that involved chemicals. Now we have cameras and computers that can take pictures right away.

Early photographers had to use equipment and get everything just right. They even had to wait a time to get the picture.

Then film cameras came out. Made things a bit easier.. Digital cameras made it so we did not need film anymore.

Smartphones changed everything again. Now people can take a picture make it look better and share it with others in a few seconds. Photography and editing tools that use computers have also changed how we take and work with pictures.

A picture that used to take a time to get ready can now be taken in almost no time. Photography is fast now.

Why Does Photography Still Matter?

Photography stays important because it can keep moments alive show life and share stories in a visual way.

Old pictures help people learn about history and photojournalism brings events right to peoples eyes. On a level pictures keep family moments, happy events, trips and daily life safe.

On World Photography Day you don’t need a camera to join in. Taking a picture trying a new way to take photos or looking back at old pictures can be enough to see how much photography has changed.
