According to reports, Meta is planning to roll out some new software updates on its Ray-Ban smart glasses. Some of the new features that are introduced in the software update include walking navigation, spatial audio, mono audio, and audio balance controls. It seems that the walking navigation feature comes with version 128, while version 129 introduces audio controls.
Ray-Ban Meta Reportedly Gets New Navigation and Audio Features
According to the 9to5Google report, software update version 128 will enable turn-by-turn walking navigation and Spatial Audio features on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Version 129 is expected to offer the features of Mono Audio and Audio Balance controls.
The new software updates are expected to be released via the Meta AI application; however, the release may differ across users.
Software update version 128 is expected to provide turn-by-turn walking navigation on the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Users are supposed to request directions for a particular destination using Meta AI, after which the glasses should direct them to that location.
This feature reportedly uses the information about location provided by the connected phone. This indicates that users do not have to keep pulling their phones to get the directions of the path.
Users are also expected to start navigation from their phones. Users can search for a location using a map application, then share it with Meta AI and connect their glasses to receive the directions to the desired place. However, in the case of long distances, glasses could provide driving directions on the connected phone.
Spatial audio is believed to be included in this update alongside many other changes. The walking navigation feature appears to have been rolled out more widely after an update to the Meta AI application. However, users may receive the changes at different times, depending on the release schedule.
The more recent v129 update, on the other hand, apparently aims to provide users with greater audio control. A mono audio feature might be introduced into the update that makes sure that sound is delivered through both speakers, rather than splitting the audio into left and right channels. It can help those users who have problems hearing the audio through both channels evenly.
The Audio Balance option is also claimed to be introduced in this update and would allow users to shift the audio toward the left or right channel. Both of these options are reportedly available in the audio settings of the glasses’ device settings.
It should be noted that the v129 update is still being rolled out, while v128 is reportedly more widely available.
