The upgraded version of Amazon’s AI-enabled voice assistant Alexa+, which was launched initially in India eight years ago, has now been rolled out in the country. The upgraded Alexa+ is now freely available for Indian users, who can use it in Hindi and Hinglish as well.
As per Amazon, Alexa+ is developed in such a way that it makes communication natural while processing complicated commands. This is the first time that Amazon is combining Alexa+ with its quick-commerce platform Amazon Now in India.
Alexa+ Now Available for Users in India
Amazon claims that the debut of Alexa+ is the first international expansion of Amazon’s AI assistant. Even though Alexa was launched in India eight years ago, Alexa+ is the new version of the AI-based experience provided by Alexa for users.
Alexa+ is now available for free for all Indians starting today. As part of early access, users can avail the updated assistant for free without subscribing to the service. However, once the early access phase ends, Amazon has assured that Alexa+ will remain free of charge for Prime members.
Language capabilities are some of the major improvements in Alexa+ for India. At launch, Alexa+ will be able to comprehend and respond in Hindi and Hinglish.
Alexa+ Integration With Amazon Now
India becomes the first country to integrate Amazon Now along with Alexa+. The integration would enable Alexa+ to add products to the Amazon Now shopping cart during a conversation.
But Alexa+ will not make purchases automatically. Instead, users have to give oral approval to complete an order.
For instance, users can make several additions to the cart using multiple requests, and Alexa+ would be able to keep track of the conversation flow without repeating earlier details.
Smarter Conversations and Personalised Assistance
This model has the ability to provide more natural conversations through the understanding of the context behind several requests. There is no need for users to repeat any information while having continuous conversations.
The assistant has the ability to remember some particular information provided by the users.
According to Amazon, Alexa+ allows people to ask questions, control smart home devices, and perform other tasks through the use of supported services.
Alexa+ Available on New Amazon Devices
The latest hardware that Amazon offers consumers, like Fire and Echo devices, has Alexa+ already embedded in it.
